The Círculo de Empresarios has just published its annual Business Survey reflecting the delicate situation the economy is going through in 2021. The survey shows the opinion of these businessmen on issues such as the economic bill of the health crisis, the impact of the pandemic on the daily activity of companies and the ERTE as an instrument to alleviate part of the damage caused by it.
In addition, when asked about the factors that hinder economic competitiveness, many issues emerge that do not seem to be on the government's agenda. Among all the answers, the increase in relevance of the regulatory burden stands out, which emerges as the second most problematic aspect for doing business. It should be noted that we continue with 3 years of increasing legislative inflation, which greatly hinders the ability of companies to do business.
It is also worth noting that two out of every three businessmen surveyed think that no consideration is given to how this enormous amount of regulatory impacts affect the different economic and social groups. This lack of evaluation would be the sixth obstacle identified by the business sector.
Managing risk and regulatory opportunities is a strategic necessity for companies to ensure survival and market positioning. According to the CEOE, throughout 2020, 793 new regulations of different ranks were approved at the state level, an increase of 22.4% over the previous year. And the balance for 2021 is expected to be even higher.
