{"id":35383,"date":"2024-10-03T11:57:09","date_gmt":"2024-10-03T11:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pkf-attest.es\/noticias\/uber-sancionada-por-dpa-2\/"},"modified":"2024-10-03T11:57:09","modified_gmt":"2024-10-03T11:57:09","slug":"uber-sancionada-por-dpa-2","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/www.pkf-attest.es\/en\/noticias\/uber-sancionada-por-dpa-2\/","title":{"rendered":"UBER fined 290 million euros by the DPA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1\" id=\"h-la-autoridad-de-proteccion-de-datos-holandesa-dpa-ha-impuesto-una-sancion-historica-de-290-millones-de-euros-a-la-plataforma-de-transporte-uber\" style=\"color:#0f3780;font-size:24px\">The Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) has imposed a landmark \u20ac290 million penalty on ride-hailing platform Uber.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">This fine is a consequence of the transfer of personal data of European drivers to servers in the United States, without the implementation of adequate security measures to protect such information, which is a serious breach of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">In the course of its investigation, the DPA found that Uber collected &#8220;sensitive personal information&#8221; about its European drivers, including cab licenses, real-time location data and even medical records. This breach underlines the importance of respecting European rules, which require companies to implement specific mechanisms, such as standard contractual clauses or binding corporate rules, to ensure that data transferred to third countries is adequately protected.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">It should be remembered that data protection is not only a legal obligation, but also a matter of trust and business reputation.
