PKF Attest collaborates with the Security Area of the Bilbao City Council in a training on personal data protection for the Local Police of Bilbao.
Data Protection Area PKF Attest
The Security Area of the Bilbao City Council, has chosen PKF Attest's data protection consulting team, to provide training to its staff, during the months of October, November and December of this year, on the Organic Law 7/2021, of May 26, on the protection of personal data processed for the purposes of prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses and enforcement of criminal penalties. This regulation is fully applicable to the processing of personal data carried out by the Local Police (among other entities), in the field of prevention, detection and investigation of crimes, within their functions and competences.
Training for the Security Area of the Bilbao City Council
The training that has been designed for the Local Police of Bilbao, takes into account the current regulatory framework and the key concepts of the same, explaining the differences between this regulation and the general regulations derived from the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and guarantee of digital rights.
It also focuses on providing guidelines for the processing of personal data to which it applies, explaining how to use the data, setting out the rights of the persons concerned and providing the most relevant notions regarding video surveillance in public places. It also shows some Resolutions and Rulings of the Spanish Data Protection Agency, the Basque Data Protection Authority, the Catalan Data Protection Authority and the Council for Transparency and Data Protection of Andalusia, which explain how to proceed with the processing of this type of personal data.
It is necessary to remember that adequate training of an organization's personnel can serve as evidence of compliance with one of the fundamental principles of data protection regulations, namely the principle of proactive responsibility.
