Telecommuting has been one of the most important trends in the work culture over the past year and a half. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, all meetings have had to be moved to an online environment. Microsoft Teams, one of the most important tools in this regard, has announced changes to better adapt to people's new needs and work styles.
The new smart cameras will be supported by three unique technologies: Artificial Intelligence (AI), which allows the cameras inside the room to use audio, facial movements and gestures to identify the person speaking; multiple video streams, to be able to place participants inside the room in their own video window; and people recognition, which will identify and display the profile name of enrolled users within their video window.
There will also be new features in Outlook to provide information about when and where colleagues are working and how they will join meetings. For example, with Work Hours, it will be possible to include information about their work schedule directly in their calendar, while the RSVP feature provides the ability to confirm whether they will be attending the meeting in person or online, so that organizers are better prepared for the appointment.
On the other hand, Cameo, a new PowerPoint experience that integrates the Teams camera feed into the presentation, so the presenter can choose how and where to appear on the slides. The Presenter Advisor in Microsoft Teams uses AI to privately advise the presenter on the pace of their presentation, notify them if they are interrupting someone, and remind them to communicate with their audience.
