🧾 What is VERI*FACTU?

Imagine that the IRS wants to make sure that all companies do things right when they make invoices - no cheating, no deleting or changing them later.
To that end, he has created a new rule called VERI*FACTU, which comes from a law called the Anti-Fraud Law.
Basically, it requires all invoicing programs to store invoices securely, without being able to change them, and that they can be easily demonstrated to the IRS.
⚖️ Two laws that go hand in hand
Actually, there are two different laws that talk about bills and technology:
- Anti-Fraud Law (Law 11/2021)
Its objective is to prevent tax fraud and to prevent anyone from manipulating invoices.
This is the origin of VERI*FACTU. - Crea y Crece Law (Law 18/2022)
It wants to make it easier to create companies and for all of them to use electronic invoices.
This fights delinquency and makes everything more transparent.
For now, the Anti-Fraud Law and VERI*FACTU are the first to arrive, and are therefore the most urgent.

📅 Important dates to remember.
- January 1, 2027 → Companies must use invoicing software adapted to VERI*FACTU.
- July 1, 2027 → Self-employed individuals and joint property entities must also comply.
You will not have to do this if you already use other similar systems, such as SII, TicketBAI or Batuz.
How does VERI*FACTU work?
There are two ways to comply with the standard:
- VERI*FACTU mode (recommended):
Your program automatically sends a short summary of each invoice to the IRS. Each invoice will carry the text "VERI*FACTU" and a QR code so that anyone can check it. - NO VERI*FACTU mode:
The program saves all the billing data, but does not send it to the IRS at the time.
However, it must be able to send it in the correct format if the IRS asks for it.
For now, the Anti-Fraud Law and VERI*FACTU are the first to arrive, and are therefore the most urgent.

🚀 Why do it now?
Although the deadline may seem far away (2027), preparing a compatible billing system cannot be done in two days.
Companies that start now will be able to:
💡 And if you use Microsoft Business Central or Dynamics NAV....
Microsoft is working to incorporate VERI*FACTU functionality into Business Central.
But - as is often the case with new features - it is likely to take some time before it is fully stable and will only be available for modern versions.
That's why it may make more sense to opt for a certified solution, such as the one we offer:
This way you are not dependent on Microsoft's deadlines and you arrive prepared before it is mandatory.
🧰 Other options
If you only issue a few invoices, Hacienda also offers a free invoicing application VERI*FACTU, which you can use manually.
But if your company issues many invoices, an integrated solution will be more practical, faster and more secure.
🤝 In summary
VERI*FACTU is like a "seal of truth" that proves your invoices are secure and legal.
You have to adapt before 2027, and the sooner you start, the easier and cheaper it will be.
And although Microsoft will incorporate it later, having a proven solution gives you peace of mind and an advantage.
